Hello, and welcome to my photography site. I'm excited to see that you want to know a little about me. Let me introduce myself. My name is Bryon Hamm and I'm from the great and beautiful city of Dallas Texas. I'm married to my gorgeous wife Rachel and we have two beautiful children together.
My passion for photography came late in my life, however I haven't looked back since finding my new passion for the lens back in 2021. I started of with a Canon Powershot taking photos of landscapes during my travels though the states. I quickly realized that the Powershot was just the beginning and I needed more, much more so I purchased the Rebel T8i and began shooting floral photography with a sigma macro lens.
After I settled back down in Dallas, the Texas heat prevented me from wanting to stay outdoors so I took my photography indoors and started to create smoke art photography using the canon 50mm lens with extensive post processing. Some of which you can see in my gallery.
After a year or so of capturing the smoke with an external flash, I knew this was something I wanted to explore more deeply into. This led me to where I am today, Flash Portraiture Photography. Capturing the beauty and expressions of people.
From then to Now
When I first picked up a camera, landscape was my thing, I traveled the lower 48 states and would see all this beautiful landscape in my travels, mostly of the country side. This was my first love for photography. the vast landscape never looked so inviting. After a while, however I wanted to photography something more close up. Then one day I saw some landscaping with florals planted all around so I gave that a shot,
Floral came next
Red Yucca
This completely changed my passion for photography quickly and I ended up with thousands of Floral shots, but I wasn't to impressed with the outcome, I mean the photo looked just like the flower, I mean I know what a sunflower looks like, but do I need a photo as a reminder? so I started playing with Photo editing software and OMG I found a new direction.
Product
Coffee Beans
Eventually I learned about Product photograpy and yet again needed to try. This required some gear that I did not have and within a few weeks I purchased a Godox 3'x3' lighting tent and a few other items so off I went shooting everything in my house, lol. Some of what I shot was Kitchen utensil, perfumes, tequila and coffee beans. While I really enjoyed this something else was brewing hot!
Macro has arrived
While product photography was interesting, Macro is by far much more. Again this required a special lens and I have endless conversations about what lens to purchase. Ultimately the Canon macro lens at the time was out of my price range for something I never tried, A good option was the Sigma Art 70mm Lens you see above. I was very pleased with this purchase and several Macro Images I created.
So Hot
SMOKE ART!, With the Texas heat pushing triple digits for almost three months, I found myself not wanting to go outside and fall over from heat stroke this particular Summer. (2022) My need for a new artistic skill was in the making, I researched indoor macro Ideas when I cam across an image of smoke art, while this image was just black and white, I was amazed with the outcome. I knew this would be perfect for my issue with the scorching heat, But again this requires a lot more equipment then I had. Especially an off camera speed light and trigger. As you can guess, a few weeks later and thanks to Adorama, lol I had my speed light and trigger setup. I quickly realized that with a single incense stick I captured a few hundred images, narrowed them down to a few dozen and began editing them. But I can into a problem. I was using affinity Photo and my Windows PC was not powerful enough to do the intense editing I wanted to do, My PC kept crashing and something had to be done. After reading about how powerful a Mac was for editing music and audio video, I decided to upgrade to the MacBook, and WOW, This led me to using multiple editing layers that transformed the smoke art into different images. See below.
